Our Commitment to Privacy

Your information privacy is important to us. To better protect your privacy we provide this notice explaining our online information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used.

The Information We Collect

When you register and logon to use the any portion of our web site, you are given access to a secure area that is reserved for selected individuals whose opinions are important to the pharmaceutical industry. The information and content presented by any of the SDI web sites is limited to this specific audience of healthcare professionals; therefore, in order to control access it is important that SDI be able to identify you. Your username and password confirms your status as a user recruited by SDI to take part in the defined services being offered. By collecting the personal information gathered during the registration process, SDI can immediately identify you as a legitimate registered user of the website.

This personal information includes your:

  • Name
  • Address
  • E-mail Address
  • Telephone number
  • Information specific to your line of business.

This information can be accessed on the Web site via your Account Profile page.

How Your Information is Used

Information you provide during the web site registration process is stored in a secure, confidential database and is used by SDI to customize and optimize the process when a registered user returns to the web site or participates in an online study.

Your profile is used internally by SDI to identify those individuals willing to participate in SDI services and receive emailed invitations to opportunities on the Web, such as an Online Market Research study.

Third Parties

SDI will not sell, rent, lease or otherwise willingly disclose your personally identifiable information to non-authorized entities. Unless we have your consent or are required by law, SDI will only share the personal data you provide with other SDI internal entities and/or business partners who are acting on our behalf for the business purposes described above. Such SDI internal entities and/or business partners are governed by our privacy policies with respect to the use of this data and are bound by the appropriate confidentiality agreements.

Aggregated Information

The user type, timing, and path of your visit to the web site is captured as click-stream data and aggregated to provide SDI information about the use of our Web site to improve its design. This information may include, for example, the most and least requested pages and the number of users by region, among other things.

Active participation in an Online Market Research survey provides a formal feedback mechanism to SDI survey Sponsors. These results will be de-identified and aggregated before they are reported to third parties.

Final reports of online activity provided to Sponsors will only include de-identified information. Your data will be aggregated with that of other, similar users in these reports and used as a basis on which new content can be created to better meet users' needs.

Exceptions:

Except as described above, we will not otherwise use or disclose any of your personally identifiable information, except to the extent reasonably necessary to:

  • Correct technical problems and malfunctions and to technically process your information
  • Protect the security and integrity of our Web site
  • Protect our rights and property, as well as the rights and property of others
  • Take precautions against liability
  • Meet legal requirements as determined by law or to respond to judicial processes
  • Provide information to law enforcement agencies for an investigation on a matter related to public safety, as applicable, to the extent required under other provisions of law

Security

To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.

The information you provide us may be archived or stored periodically by us according to backup processes conducted in the ordinary course of business. Information stored as part of this backup process will be deleted in due course on a regular schedule.

Cookies

A cookie is an encrypted data string our server stores on your hard drive that contains your unique User ID for our Web site. Cookies may be used by SDI to deliver web content specific to your interests based on your Web site activity. Any cookies deposited on your computer are in no way linked to any personal identification information you may have provided SDI. In addition, a cookie cannot be used to access or otherwise compromise the data on your hard drive. You can choose to change your browser settings to disable cookies if you do not want us to establish and maintain your SDI User website relationship. Please be aware that cookies may be required to complete certain functions on some of the SDI Web sites.

IP Addresses

In the normal operation of our SDI web sites, we receive the IP addresses of those computers visiting the website. Your computer IP address is a number assigned to you by your Internet service provider so you can access the Internet. Although we do receive IP addresses, we do not use them to personally identify you or disclose them to others. IP address information is strictly used for troubleshooting of web site connections and use. Access to IP information at SDI is protected in the same manner as is access to your personal information.

How You Can Access or Correct Your Information

Once logged onto a SDI web site, you have the option of viewing and submitting changes to your profile information recorded in the system. To protect your privacy and security, we will also take reasonable steps to verify your identity before granting you access or enabling you to make corrections. To access your personal information, click the 'My Profile' link found in the 'Members Login' area of the applicable web site.

Your Choices

You can always choose not to provide information, even though it might be needed to take advantage of such features as paid Online Market Research. If you do not wish to receive e-mail or other mail from SDI, please adjust your Preferences on the Profile page.

The "help" portion of the toolbar on most browsers will tell you how to prevent your browser from accepting new cookies, how to have the browser notify you when you receive a new cookie, or how to disable cookies altogether. However, you may not be able to use important features of the site if you do not use cookies.

Links To Other Web sites

Our Web site may contain links to other Web sites. You should carefully review the privacy policies and practices of other Web sites, as we cannot control or be responsible for their privacy practices.

Notification of Changes

If we decide to change our Privacy Policy, we will post the policy changes on the home page of SDI web site so that our users are aware of what information we collect, use and disclose. We will collect, use and disclose a user's personally identifiable information in accordance with the Privacy Policy that was in effect when such information was collected.
